Louis CK (photo of Lyndon Johnson) // "For me, the most important thing a president needs is empathy. It's the number one thing. You have to be upset if somebody gets hurt. You have to worry about other people. You have to have a gut feeling of like, 'Oh fuck, what would happen to these people if I do this.' Like Lyndon Johnson, as fucked up as he was, there's this picture you can find of him listening to...a tape describing what it's like to be a soldier on the front line of Vietnam and he's sobbing because he's the president and he's putting kids on the front line and it's shattering him that he's causing that kind of pain for his own people. That's what a president has to have...I don't feel that Trump has it. I think he knows how to sound, he knows how to connect to people. That's different. He knows how to read somebody's pulse and manipulate... When he does a rally, he talks about how he beat the guys and what losers the other guys are, for the whole time. He doesn't say, this is what we need to accomplish, this is what matters, this is what's happening to you people and it's not right. He talks about 'they're being unfair to me, this is all rigged...' With war and stuff, you have to make yourself sick to your stomach to send somebody to battle. You have to feel that way and I don't think that he has that."

Louis CK // "I'm gonna vote for Hillary...to me it's very exciting to have the first mother in the White House. That's what I think. It's not about the first woman, it's about the first mom. Because a mother, she's got it. A mother just does it. She feeds you and teaches you, she protects you. She takes care of shit. A father, we've had 240 years of fathers. Father after father. A bald father, fat father, every kind of father. And fathers are ok. I'm a father... A great father can give a kid 40% of its needs, top. Any mother, just a shit mother, just a not even trying mother, 200%. Mothers do too much. Like, what's the last conversation you had with your mother? "Mom alright! That's enough!" So, to me, it's exciting... Look, I have no problem with anyone that votes for Trump...if that's what they feel that they want. But if you don't vote at all...if you're like, "Eh, I don't know...I don't like her voice." Grow the fuck up. Are you kidding me? Grow up. "Eh I don't know. There's just something about her." I don't want somebody that's likable or cool any more. We need just a two-faced, conniving, crazy...just somebody that's got a million schemes. By the way, all of her shit is out there. Every email she ever wrote is out there and she's not in jail. Which is amazing. But we need just a tough bitch mother who nobody likes and just does shit. So here is my feeling overall. I think if you vote for Hillary, you're a grown up. If you vote for Trump, you're a sucker. And if you don't vote at all, you're an asshole."

Salvador Dali // "Freedom of any kind is the worst for creativity. You know, Dali spent two months in jail in Spain, and these two months were the most enjoyable and happy in my life. Before my jail period, I was always nervous, anxious. I didn't know if I should make a drawing, or perhaps a poem, or go to the movies or the theatre...the people put me in jail, and my life became divine! Tremendous!"

Tom Waits (reading Charles Bukowski) // "Your life is your life. Don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission. Be on the watch. There are ways out. There is light somewhere. It may not be much light but it beats the darkness. Be on the watch. The gods will offer you chances. Know them. Take them. You can’t beat death but you can beat death in life, sometimes. And the more often you learn to do it, the more light there will be. Your life is your life. Know it while you have it. You are marvelous. The gods wait to delight in you."
